Serving Stouffville With Pride Since 1938
Empowering volunteers to serve our community, meet humanitarian needs,
and promote international understanding.
Who We Are
Lions Clubs began as the dream of Chicago insurance man Melvin Jones, who proposed that local business clubs be more concerned with the betterment of their communities and the world by working together.
The Association of Lions Clubs was established in 1917 in Chicago. The Association went international in 1920 when Border Cities Lions Clubs in Windsor, Canada, was established. The name of Lions Clubs International has been used since then. It subsequently evolved as an international service organization under the guidance and supervision of its secretary, Melvin Jones. Lions Clubs evolved into Lioness Clubs and Leo Clubs, offering a space for everyone to be involved.
Today Lions, Lioness Lions, and Leos work together with over 1.4 million members in over 200 countries, making it the largest volunteer group in the world!
